Project Focus
Florida Polytechnic University wanted to refresh their Public Safety & Operations Building. This facility serves as the headquarters for its public safety team, university police department, and operations group. The building plays a key role in supporting campus safety and improving response capabilities for students and faculty.
Spectra Contract Flooring Tampa partnered on the project to deliver a flooring solution that supports both function and long-term performance in a critical-use environment.
Key Challenges and Solutions
The project progressed smoothly, with installation completed efficiently and without major issues. As the space began to take shape, the design team and end user took the opportunity to refine selections and make adjustments that were better aligned with their vision.
These updates included expanding the project by an additional 150 square yards and reworking the carpet tile layout. This process involved close coordination between Spectra, the general contractor, the end user, and Interface. Through strong collaboration and communication, the team implemented the revisions seamlessly.
Material Strategy
Interface carpet tile was selected for its durability, flexibility, and design versatility. The product allowed the team to adapt quickly to layout changes while maintaining performance standards needed for a high-traffic operations facility.
Project Outcome
The project was completed successfully with all design updates thoughtfully incorporated. The end user was extremely pleased with the outcome, and the finished space is equipped with flooring built to withstand daily operations while supporting the university’s safety resources for years to come.
